How ARITS replaced CityBank's rigid, resource-heavy training with a custom enterprise platform that makes skill development easier to scale and track.

Background

Training in Bangladesh's banking sector has long been rigid and costly: staff pulled off the job, moved between branches, and put through slow, manual programmes.

City Bank PLC ran into that wall when a Bangladesh Bank mandate required it to train all 5,100+ of its existing employees. It needed to do that without relocating people or carrying the cost of the old way of working.

Introduction

City Bank runs Latitude, ARITS's enterprise learning platform, which it brands internally as City Shikhi. It gives every employee one place to learn, on their own schedule, without leaving their branch.

Latitude is a customized enterprise e-learning platform. For City Bank it was configured around the bank's courses, roles, and compliance needs, then deployed inside the bank's own data center so every piece of training data stays under City Bank's control.

Objective

The platform carries City Bank's full training catalogue, so employees can learn anytime, anywhere. City Bank keeps it in service under an ongoing licence with ARITS, so the platform stays maintained and updated without the bank having to build or run an LMS itself.

Key Features

Employees sign in through the bank's existing directory with single sign-on, so there are no extra passwords or IDs to remember, and each person lands on a dashboard built around their own courses. Administrators can enrol people one at a time or in bulk from a spreadsheet.

A built-in calendar keeps learners on track. Instructors can build quizzes, assignments, essays, and exercises, then mark submissions automatically or by hand. Learning pathways can be tailored so people only take the courses they actually need.

Enrolment works by cohort: a group such as HR staff at one branch can be targeted for a specific course. It can also run bank-wide, or be left to employees to self-enrol.

The platform is built to hold attention, with clear learning objectives, discussion forums, gamification, and certificates on completion.

Reports are generated automatically, giving City Bank a clear view of usage and progress across the workforce.

The analytics show how employees are performing and which courses are working, so the training team can adjust.

Impact

For City Bank, the platform removed the two biggest costs of the old model: moving people around, and the time it took. More than 5,100 staff now train at their own pace, wherever they are, on content covering technology, security, regulations, and role-specific skills.

The same platform, Latitude, also runs in production at United Commercial Bank. Two of the country's banks train their people on it.
